Sun Ra - The Lost Arke and a 2nd Chance: Mystery Mister Ra

Tremendous lost works from Sun Ra – three previously-unreleased tracks from Art Yard's vaults – all of them great!  Side one features the wonderful spiritual polyrhythmic percussive groover 'Along Came Ra' featuring vocals from June Tyson to start things out – then given a fiery recitation by Ra over ensemble vocals.  Next is "The Sky Is A Sea Of Darkness" – a spare keyboard tune with some great vocals – beautifully, soulfully sung by John Gilmore with a poetic feel that's wonderful! Last up is one of the most soulful versions of "We Travel The Spaceways" we've ever heard – slow, with piano in the background underneath the vocals – which themselves are deeply personal, and some of the most moving we've ever heard on a Ra tune. All three tracks are on the inside, spiritual side of the Arkestra spectrum.

  4. Thanks guys, I'm so glad you like these. I've been looking forward to posting 'the lost arkestra' 10" for some time. I think it's absolutely amazing. I watched the movie again last week and thought it would be great to make it available again... the tie to 'the lost arkestra' gave me just the nudge I needed.

I'm a bit disappointed that Divshare has been down (and still is) - I was kinda excited to be offering the complete set for streaming.

  7. Hi Yotte,
I am coming on this Mountain of work you have done... AND DONE EXTREMELY WELL CONSIDERING HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO GET ANY LONG STANDING BLOG WORKING for more than a year... and u have gone many years.
But I humbly would like to request that you stop using rapidshare, rapid share does not work like it used to, Rapidshare is now one of the least useful of share sights... this is based almost entirely on my use of so many of the blog sites over the last few months, which was my first awareness of what blogs are.
But for instance this Sun Ra documentary is not possible to download from rapidshare (unless one buys a rapidshare account... and then only maybe!!!!)

For large files like this rapidshare does not work for free.

There is a site here that I know works well, and fast, and LARGE FILES. I have only used it for one upload project last month (on inconstantsol )and i was totally virgin to all uploading before that. https://mega.co.nz
My point is I am no expert but mega is one sight that is certainly better than rapidshare in many ways.

    1. Hi S.C.
Sorry to take so long to respond. I'm glad you found the blog and are enjoying the posts.

After I lost all of my files when MegaUpload was taken down, I decided to start uploading files to multiple hosts. Unfortunately, some of them have also gone down on me. RS, FF, and Mega have been pretty stable for the last year or so and I will continue to upload files to each of them. I only started using Mega a few months ago and am happy with the results. Unfortunately, it is expensive to become a "Pro" user at Mega so I will be limited in how many files I can use them for. I'm sorry, but I simply haven't had the time to go back through older posts and re-up files to these other hosts. Maybe someday. Mystery, Mister Ra is a great movie and I'll try to get links up to an alternate host soon. In the meantime, you are welcome to check out my VIMEO page Here. Thanks for taking the time to write.
